Celebrating a Milestone in Memory

To celebrate his big 5-0, Darrell Mote threw himself a birthday party, but instead of bringing gifts, he asked guests to make a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan. To make the donation process easy, Darrell created an online giving page and sent the link to all his guests via email.

Raising funds for the Alzheimer Society was important to Darrell, as his uncle was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in his early fifties, struggled for years with the disease and passed away at 63. “From the moment he passed, I wanted to have an event to support Alzheimer’s,” says Darrell, “so I made it happen.”

Alzheimer’s is also an important cause to Darrell because he has many friends with family members who also have dementia or Alzheimer’s.

After donations from individuals and the proceeds from the cash bar, Darrell raised over $2,500. We are grateful to people like Darrell who want to support our organization, while honouring someone special.

Just like Darrell, you can do Anything for Alzheimer’s too!
